VD Mount: Effective Shock Absorption and Vibration Control
Rubber anti-vibration mounts isolate industrial machinery and vehicles from the structures they rest on, reducing vibration, structure-borne noise and wear. Engineering Note
This VD mount is normally specified where the machine must be held on a tapped base while the other side takes a stud. Because the element is worked in compression and shear at the same time, it turns both steady running vibration and the jolt at start-up into heat instead of passing it into the floor.
When sizing, take the load at each support rather than the total machine weight, then confirm the running speed sits well above the mount's natural frequency. That margin is what keeps a pump or fan quiet and stops the rubber from hardening prematurely.
